Art has always captivated me, sparking a deep sense of wonder. Growing up in New York City, I often visited museums. I was surrounded by stories, colors, and visions. As a self-taught artist, I have dedicated myself to honing my craft, pouring my experiences into every piece that I create. Being a Black artist, much of my art centers around the Black experience in America.
The journey I’ve taken as an artist has been one of profound growth that has surpassed even my own expectations. Discovering the potential of my imagination and bringing it to life on canvas has been a joy.
Whether using oil, acrylic, gouache, pencil or pen, I seek to engage the viewer in a conversation. A single piece of art can speak to one person in one way and to another in an entirely different way. It’s this diversity of perception that fascinates me—how each individual connects with my work in ways that are deeply personal.
Art has the power to expand our perspectives, stretch our imaginations, and inspire our deepest passions. It can also heal our wounds, challenge our convictions, and unite us across boundaries. In these transformative times, art remains a catalyst for change, a mirror reflecting our truths, and a source of strength to reaffirm what we hold dear.
